A few days ago, a healthcare executive asked me about Tiered Management. They were using the system but felt something was missing. The mechanic of the system was there, but the purpose and associated behaviors had weakened over time.
Every day, organizations make commitments to their customers and stakeholders. The main purpose of tiered management is to ensure the organization will not break any of those commitments. The dynamic system engages every level in the organization in SUPPORTING the frontline team to meet those commitments.
Tiered management is not reporting information simply desired by the hierarchical structure. It is customer and stakeholder centric.
